On behalf of the Huffing For Stuffing Race Committee and the Gallatin Valley Food Bank, we thank you for considering to volunteer in support of our holiday celebration in Bozeman, MT. We look forward to working with you and hope you find this to be an equally rewarding experience.

To Volunteer: Please review the position descriptions in the PDF Document to help you choose an area in which you would like to help. Please consider asking your family, friends and co-workers to join you. Please download the Volunteer Sign-up Form or fill out the Submission Box below in order to submit your name to help as a volunteer. Positions we need filled: (Scroll to the bottom of the page to sign up for a volunteer position.) Please rank your ideal volunteer positions from 1 to 3. (1 being your top choice)

 

Course Set-Up & Retrieval

Well before the start of the race, we need 4 people to help set up the course. This involves setting up cones, signs, and marking the course at critical points. We also need to have the cones, signs, (etc..) retrieved afterward. Please bring a pick-up truck!

Set-up time : 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM Retrieval time : 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM (or ASAP)

 

 

Water Stations

We will need 5 people to staff the on-course aid station and 10 people to staff the water station at the Start/Finish Line. Volunteers are responsible for setting up and organizing the station and assisting race participants in an efficient, friendly manner. Also includes trash pick-up after the race.

Time needed – On Course : 8:30 AM to 10:15 AM Start/Finish Line : 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM

 

 

Race Day Registration & Pre-Registration Tables

We will need 5 people to handle race day registration and 3 people to handle pre-registration. Race day registration involves collecting the entry fee, ensuring the registration form is legible and complete, providing the participants with the race packet, and addressing any questions or concerns. Pre-registration duties are similar except that pre-registered participants have already completed the entry form and paid the fee. Time needed : 7:15 AM to 9:00 AM

 

 

Start/Finish Line Help

Volunteers can choose either to serve before the race (25 people needed to prep for Start) or after the race (25 people needed for clean-up). Several functional positions will be required, including setting up and taking down scaffolding, banners, barricades, tables, assisting with tents, and general clean-up of the entire area.

Set-up time : 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM Retrieval time : 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM

 

 

Course Marshals

15 Course Marshals will be stationed at variouis intersections and key points throughout the race courses. Primary function is to control auto traffic to ensure participants' safety and to make sure all participants make the correct turns. We hope Course Marshals will wear big smiles and shout lots of encouragement! Time needed: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM

 

 

Bicycle Pace Leaders & Safety Patrol

We need 2 brightly dressed and speedy bicyclists to set the pace and lead the way for the 5K and 10K participants. Pace leaders must be familiar with the course and be able to stay comfortably ahead of the lead runners without interfering with the race. We need 2 additional bicyclists to serve as safety patrols on both courses. Time needed : 8:45 AM to 10:15 AM

 

 

Finish Line Chute Helpers

We need 10 finish line helpers to assist with coordinating operations at the finish line. Participants who approach the finish line must be separated between 5K & 10K participants. Finishing participants must be kept strictly in order so as to record proper race result, have their race bib stubs pulled off and put in order on a spindle. The spindles will be handed to the race timer. The finish line area must be kept clear of spectators, children and pets, to ensure everyones' safety. This is important for everyone's safety! Time needed: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM
